Well, that’s the year nearly over and what a year it has been.  Hopefully, everyone continues to stay safe and well and are looking forward to a brighter more normal 2021 (don’t mention Brexit!!).

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our customers and suppliers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I would especially like to thank our amazing staff who have worked tirelessly throughout 2020 to ensure that when our shops have been able to open that we have been able to continue as “normally” as possible.  They have managed to make what has been a challenging time for all, that bit easier.

We have taken the decision to have an extended Christmas break this year (I think we all deserve and need it), so will be closing at 5.00pm on Saturday 19th December and reopening on Monday 4th January 2021.  Come and see us before then or have a wonderful break yourselves and we will see you in the new year.  You will see a lot of other companies offering gimmick sales or one off events.  Please don’t be fooled by these.  We always offer the best prices available to us at the time, we don’t have fake sales or inflated prices only to reduce them later.

Like many of you, all of the plans that we had in 2020 have been cancelled or postponed, but we all have our fingers crossed that Neil and Kathryn’s wedding goes to plan in August.

Our plans to revamp our Blaydon showroom is also top of our list for the early part of next year when we are able to go ahead.

We made the decision early on (or rather it was made for us) that our company Christmas Party would not be able to go ahead and rather than do nothing, we all decided to donate what it would have cost to have the party to charity.  Therefore, all of our staff selected a charity of their choice and we will be donating to each of these.  We always support a number of charities throughout the year, but the ones chosen for this time of year are.

  •  Help for Heroes
  • Gateshead Young Women’s Outreach Project
  • Cramlington & District Red Squirrel Group
  • Guide Dogs for the Blind
  • Changing Lives – Veterans
  • Bryon’s Animal Shelter
  • Reach Charity
So once again, thank you all for your custom and we hope next year is the best one yet for everyone.  Until then……….

Well what a strange year it has been – with a great start to 2020 we had plans in place for a bit of a door revamp in the Blaydon showroom. Our suppliers Quickstep being one of them  were in the middle of launching and revamping many of their ranges, which was all exciting.

On a personal level we all had so many things booked and planned  including holidays – 50th birthday celebration – 10 year anniversary of the opening Doors and Floors – and or course Neil had his wedding to Kathryn all booked – all of which have had to be cancelled or in the case of Neil postponed until August 2021 due to Covid 19!

Like many businesses we closed during the lockdown and we all stayed at home during these strange times – following the instructions from the Government – watching over family and friends from a distance, supporting key workers and of course eating!

When we were given the go ahead to re-open we did so and it has been non-stop ever since. Whilst we have had to put the showroom plans on hold until the start of 2021 when things are a bit quieter. We have been busy helping all of our customers chose their new staircases, doors and floors with a lot of our customers using our recommended fitters.

Unfortunately, it would appear that suppliers are struggling to keep up with demand since the reopening of the shops as most manufacturers stopped manufacturing their products during lockdown, we are hoping by the end of September stock levels will be much better.

Brand update –

Quickstep have added a few beautiful ranges to their laminate flooring. The Signature range is amazing and is so realistic with the added bonus of being water resistant. Quickstep have also launched Impressive patterns which can be fitted as a chevron or a diamond effect. They have also updated the engineered ranges and have added a magnificent click herringbone. Their vinyl range is in the process of a re-vamp too – so watch this space.
